Yasmin Solitahe Odlum to Address the Role of Saint Lucian Women in Politics

New York, NY (February 28, 2023) – The third installment of the Independence Dialogue Tuesdays series will feature Yasmin Solitahe Odlum, who will address the topic of “Women’s Participation in Politics — A View from Saint Lucia.”
 
This virtual program, presented by the Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York in observance of the country’s forty-fourth anniversary of independence, will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, beginning at 7:00 PM. It can be viewed via both the Zoom and Facebook platforms.
 
Ms. Odlum is the daughter of the late politician George Odlum, who served as Saint Lucia’s Foreign Minister and Ambassador, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations. She is a former diplomat attached to the Embassy of Saint Lucia in Washington, DC, and currently serves as a specialist and coordinator for the Caribbean Inter-American Commission of Women at the Organization of American States.
Ms. Odlum, co-authored with Saint Lucian journalist Barbara Jacobs Small, the book, Running in Heels: Women and Politics in Saint Lucia from 1961-2016.

Running in Heels highlights the involvement of local women in Saint Lucian politics, and the contributions they have made. The book also offers insights regarding the country’s political landscape.
