LANTERN CONTEST THEME:
● National
● Traditional
● Contemporary
PARTICIPANT AGE: Competition is open to all age groups.
ARTISTIC DESIGN & AESTHETIC APPEAL:
● Based on the category chosen there must be a presence artistic design and aesthetic appeal. The lantern must be a esthetically appealing, lit and unlit.
● There must be unity in the design.. This entails artistic innovation, concept, creativity, complexity, originality and skills must be visible or eye catching throughout the construction of the lantern.
● Colors, illumination with workmanship should add to the uniqueness of each item, which may have moving parts/mechanical/electronic/complex design.
● Lantern must be structurally sturdy.
ILLUMINATION:
No open/bare flames
DISPLAY/PORTABILITY:
● Lanterns must have hooking devices to transport or display items.
● Lantern should be placed on a firm base to support the structure enabling it to be carried easily by one individual.
JUDGES: Three panel Judges selected by sponsoring organization.
Qualification: Appreciation for creative arts.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
Craftsmanship - Construction, Portability, Neatness, Suitable use of material 45%
Design - Illumination, Presentation, Unity in Design, Effective design elements, color, shapes, form 35%
Conceptualization - Theme is clearly/effectively reflected, Originality, Ideas are cohesive 20%
JUDGES’ DECISION IS FINAL: NO HAGGLING OR APPEAL
Lanterns remain property of participants. If possible winning lanterns may be displayed at public places.
Registration Deadline is December 7, 2020.

Sister country St. Vincent and the Grenadines is in urgent need of assistance as they endure repeated eruptions from the La Souriere volcano. The Saint Lucia House Foundation is launching this dedicated fundraiser which will run until May 15th to supplement the efforts of the Consulate of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in New York. All funds raised will be turned over to the Consulate.
