Women’s Awareness Forum to be Held in New York City

Brooklyn, New York (March 21, 2022) — Further honoring the thirty-fifth International Women’s History Month, the New York City-based Saint Lucia Mother’s Day Committee, the Saint Lucian United Association, and the Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York have joined forces to host the Women’s History Month Awareness Forum, slated for Sunday, March 27, from 3 PM until 6 PM, at the Saint Lucia House, 438 E 49th Street, Brooklyn 11203, between Church and Snyder Avenues.

The theme of this year’s Women’s History observance, “Break the Bias,” will serve as the backdrop for this forum, which will address some of the most pressing issues facing women today. Among the topics to be covered are the impact of women’s mental health on the decision-making process, violence toward women, and its impact on relationships.

Sandra Reynolds-Bowden, president of the Mother’s Day Committee, says the upcoming forum is timely, especially since at present millions of women around the world remain marginalized, while many have been heavily impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic. She adds that her organization views this event as a platform for tough dialogue exploring the many societal ills that continue to plague women.

Neva Jean, president of the Saint Lucian United Association, welcomes this collaborative effort. She hopes this event will provide a unique opportunity for women, Saint Lucian women particularly, to speak up against any abusive issues they face.
